2020 New Years Resolution Accomplished!

HAPPY MONDAY!!!

It is FINALLY 2021! I want to give you an update on how my 2020 New Year resolution turned out and how that will affect my 2021 New Year resolution.

Last year my resolution was to focus on and study emotional intelligence every day. The reason I wanted to focus and study on emotional intelligence was that there were places in my life where I realized that mine was pretty low. I identified times in my life where my reaction to events would have produced a better result or response if I had handled it differently. I identified that I needed to work on that aspect of my life.

So, for the first time since I have been alive, I have set a New Year’s resolution and I have kept it. Every single day, for 2020, whether in the morning or at night, or both, I read an article on emotional intelligence from:

  • Ted Talks
  • Blogs
  • Stories
  • Research Papers

These tend to be focused on identifying emotions in yourself and in other people.

As a result of this information about myself and emotions in other people, I have greatly improved my life. It has improved business relations. It has improved personal relations. It makes it possible to immediately identify an emotion and you can tell your mind to stop so you can process what’s behind those emotions, and think things through… ‘Is this an emotional response, or am I truly doing the right things for the right reasons?’  And when you identify that in yourself, you are able to have a higher success rate of doing the right thing. You don’t incur negative emotions in other people and it’s fantastic!

People notice a difference and that makes me happy because I’ve spent a lot of time figuring it out!

The other important part is identifying emotions in someone else, you are able to stop and think and focus on ‘what you can do to improve their emotion, improve what they’re thinking about or talking about, so that they’re happy’… All in al it can create a much better result.

So, 2020’s resolution was to study emotional intelligence, and it was worth every minute spent, and I’m grateful for every moment I spent on it!

This year’s resolution will be focused on harmony, but we’ll get into that next Monday.

Have a great day and I’ll talk to you next week!
